From my perspective on the other side of fifty, I’m finally beginning to recognize that it’s possible to be vulnerable in a healthy way, and that it doesn’t always mean exposing oneself to pain. In other words, even though our history has informed us that the two go hand-in-hand, in truth, one is actually possible without the other. Vulnerability can be a tender kiss on the cheek, when administered by the hand of a trusted friend or loved one. Vulnerability allows us to exhale.
